Founded in 2000, we are...
We are The Downbeats.
Founded in 2000, we are a creative, aggressively fun co-ed a cappella group from Northeastern University, devoted to spreading our melodic and in-house musical arrangements to all. Our expansive repertoire ranges from pop, indie, country, R&B, to classic rock influences, and we’re dedicated to pushing our own boundaries and defining our unique sound. Whether it’s jamming to the latest bops or singing along to an old classic, we base our tightly-knit culture on our universal love of music.
Each Downbeat brings their own individual skills and talents to the group, coming together to form one diverse group that learns and grows from one another. We welcome music lovers and makers of all kinds to join our family, whether you are a trained singer or a timid belter. The Downbeats combine new talent with the knowledge gained from past members to create the blend of sound that is so characteristic of our group.
